A single calculator is useful when the job has one clear input and one clear result. Building a raised bed, designing an irrigation zone or planning a growing season is different: the answer from one step becomes the input for another. Bed dimensions influence timber, soil volume and planting capacity. Measured emitter flow influences irrigation runtime and whether the water source can support the zone. Frost dates influence seed-starting, transplanting and succession targets.

Tiny Mustard Seed Projects are designed around that chain. Shared values stay visible, individual steps remain understandable, and you can still open the underlying calculators when you only need one answer. The aim is to reduce repeated typing without hiding the formulas or pretending that one generated plan knows more than the gardener does.

RAISED BED BUILD PACK

Carry one set of bed dimensions through timber, fill volume and crop layout.

The Raised Bed Build Pack starts with the bed you actually want to construct. Length, width and height can feed the lumber cut list and the soil-volume calculation instead of creating three disconnected versions of the same bed. Once the physical size is established, the project can continue into a crop layout using the shared plant-spacing system.

This is a materials and garden-planning workflow, not a structural-engineering certificate. Timber species, wall thickness, bracing, fasteners, ground conditions and local construction choices still belong to the builder. The value of the project is consistency: the dimensions used to estimate boards are the same dimensions used to estimate soil and growing space.

GARDEN IRRIGATION PLANNER

Move from measured flow to a practical watering runtime.

The Irrigation Planner connects the parts of a drip zone that are easy to calculate separately but easy to mismatch in practice: growing area, emitter count, measured emitter flow, available source flow, weekly water target, expected rainfall, runtime and stored-water capacity. A bucket or emitter-flow test can replace assumptions with a number measured from the real system.

The project checks whether the planned zone demand is sensible relative to the entered source capacity and turns the chosen water depth into a runtime estimate. Forecast rainfall can be treated as a visible credit rather than silently changing the result. Soil type, plant stage, slope, pressure variation, clogged emitters and local restrictions can still change the right schedule, so field observation remains the final check.

GROWING SEASON PLANNER

Turn frost context into a crop schedule you can adjust.

The Growing Season Planner connects expected frost timing with crop lead times, transplant windows, succession sowing and estimated harvest targets. Historical frost analysis can provide context where supported, while manual dates remain available when a trusted local source or the gardener's own records are more appropriate.

Crop defaults are planning values, not fixed biological deadlines. Variety instructions, protected growing, soil temperature, day length and unusual weather can move sowing and maturity earlier or later. The project therefore keeps timing visible and editable, including variety-specific overrides where needed, instead of presenting a generated date as a guarantee.

PROJECT OR SINGLE TOOL?

Choose the smallest workflow that solves the job.

Use a Project when several steps share the same measurements or when you expect to return to the plan over time. Use a standalone tool when you only need one answer: a mulch quantity, a frost check, a seed viability estimate, a compost volume or a watering runtime. Both paths use the same Tiny Mustard Seed approach—show the method, preserve useful context and keep limitations visible.
