IRRIGATION SYSTEM PLANNER

Turn emitter flow into a watering runtime.

Set the bed area and target water depth, then enter the number and rated flow of your emitters to estimate how long the drip system needs to run.

WATER TARGET150 L10.0 m² × 15.0 mm
SYSTEM FLOW40.0 L/h20 × 2.0 L/h
RUN TIME4 h 10 minat 90% application efficiency
PER ZONE40.0 L/h20 emitters across 1 zone
FORMULAtarget litres ÷ effective system flow = runtime

Because 1 mm over 1 m² equals 1 litre, a depth target can be converted directly into the volume the irrigation system needs to deliver.

This assumes the stated emitter flow is actually reaching the bed. Pressure variation, blocked emitters, long laterals, slope and poor distribution can change real application. Measure actual flow from representative emitters before relying on the runtime for a permanent irrigation schedule.

HOW IT WORKS

Start with the water volume the soil should receive.

One millimetre over one square metre equals one litre. The calculator converts the target depth across the selected area into litres, totals the rated output of every emitter, applies an efficiency allowance, and divides required volume by effective flow to estimate runtime.

The result is most useful after checking actual emitter output. Long tubing runs, pressure changes, blocked emitters and slope can make real flow differ from the printed rating, so catch and measure water from representative emitters before locking in a permanent schedule.
